Have hair loss? Live in the UK? You could be entitled to
VAT Exemption
UK VAT Exemption Guidance: Do you wear hair toppers or wigs for hair loss or due to a medical condition? UK customers who wear wigs or hair toppers for medical necessity (such as alopecia, chemotherapy treatment, or other hair loss conditions) are eligible for 0% UK VAT under HMRC Notice 701/7.
How to Order Your Piece
We have simplified our checkout process so you no longer need to wait for approval before making your purchase.
- Select Your VAT Status on the Product Page:
- UK Resident – Claiming Medical VAT Exemption: Select this option if you qualify for medical hair loss relief. No UK VAT will be added to your order.
- UK Resident – Standard Order (Paying 20% VAT): Select this option if you live in the UK and do not qualify for medical exemption. Standard 20% UK VAT will be added directly to your choice.
- International Buyers (Outside UK): Select this option if you are ordering from outside the UK. Overseas orders are automatically exempt from UK VAT.
2. Complete Your 10-Second Exemption Form: If you select the Medical VAT Exemption option, either fill out the form by clicking here, or alternatively one will be emailed to you prior to shipping.
Please don’t worry if you select the wrong option and change your mind! We can either refund VAT paid in error, or invoice for VAT not paid, so feel free to reach out :).
HMRC Compliance & Important Notes
- Self-Declaration: Declaring VAT exemption is a personal declaration made directly to HMRC. Declarations are stored securely by Wildflower and are only shared with HMRC in the event of a VAT audit. Wildflower is not responsible for determining your medical eligibility, but feel free to reach out if you are confused about the VAT process or need any advice.
- HMRC Guidance: For detailed rules on eligibility, please review HMRC Notice 701/7: VAT reliefs for disabled and older people or call the HMRC Helpline on 0300 123 1073.
- International Customers: Orders shipped outside the UK are zero-rated for UK VAT and this doesn't apply. Local import duties or taxes may be applicable in your destination country and remain the responsibility of the buyer.
